SubseaUK STEM Challenge Final in Aberdeen

On Sunday the 13th of May, a group of 6 Year 9 students boarded a train at Truro headed for Aberdeen, 4 trains (including the London Undergound) and 16 hours later they arrived! The final itself was a really well organised day, and saw our students competing along side teams from Portsmouth, Sutton, Newcastle and St. Andrews. Post 16 Students SKYPE the Supreme Court!

Last week, the UK Supreme Court held a '30 minute SKYPE session' with our A' Level Law students. The students were able to chat with Lord Briggs, from the comfort of their classroom! Students 'Beat the Bounds!'

Wednesday 9th May 2018

On Wednesday 9th May Mr Richardson took four Year 7 students Myah, Jamie-Lee, Rohan and Ethan on Helston's 'Beating the Boundaries'. They walked to nine of the boundary stones around Helston taking turns to be tipped upside down and having our heads banged three times on a tuft of grass on top of the boundary stones and then giving the stones three cheers. Everybody had a go including the Mayor of Helston and Lieutenant Commander Bennetts at Culdrose! Post 16 students take part in a mock trial

Our A Level Law Students undertook a Bar Trials (National Competition) Mock Trial as part of the Law Advocacy Skills Conference which is being held Nationally on Wednesday 25th April. Students experienced a number of advocacy masterclasses, delivered by legal professionals and the opportunity to put their advocacy skills to practice. Students learnt about the procedures which govern our legal system and gained in-depth knowledge about a specific area of criminal law. Big Bang Winners for the second year in a row!

On Wednesday 25th April Miss Taylor took 6 students to the University of Exeter for a fraction event of the Big Bang Science and Engineering Fair. The students had to present their project "Could E-numbers be used as a new stimulant" to judges and moderators in order to qualify for the National final of Young Scientist of the year in Birmingham. Both the judges and moderators were extremely impressed with the work presented and how confidently they were able to answer their questions, and our team was put straight through to the finals in 2019!
