Bloodhound team in the national final

Over the last few months some of our budding engineers from Helston Community College have been competing in the Bloodhound 'Race for the Line' project.

The students had to design and build a rocket car out of Styrofoam to a strict set of regulations. The models were then raced using miniature rocket engines with the fastest team deemed the winners. Helston Community College managed to win the local and county competitions. This resulted in the team being invited to the national finals at Santa Pod raceway along with 29 other teams.

The top prize was a trip to South Africa to see the real Bloodhound Supersonic Car put through its paces. With an average speed of 43.35 mph, the Helston team were finally placed in the top ten. The College would like to congratulate all involved.
