Wednesday 10th January 2018

On Wednesday this week, Mrs Day had the pleasure of attending Penwith College along with two of our students for the national future chef cooking competition. Representing the College were Year 10 students Amber Brierley and Sam Belert. They both worked professionally throughout the competition against other students from Penzance. We were delighted to hear that Sam was named the overall winner and now goes onto the Cornish finals of the competition at Rick Steins cookery school in Padstow in two weeks time. He also has the opportunity to work with a tutor and chef, Dave Power, who used to...

Wednesday 10th January 2018

Last term, a competition was offered to all students in the College to research a Cornish person or place with a link to the First World War, and then to complete a piece of fiction writing to express their research findings. The entries for the competition were outstanding and it was extremely difficult to judge. However, the judges eventually settled on Charlotte King in 11F and Kerenza Stevens in 10K as the competition winners, with a Highly Commended Prize going to Thomas Sharratt in 8K for his extraordinarily mature and sophisticated piece of writing. Certificates of Participation also go to...

At 12.30am on a cold and wet January morning 30 excited Year 11 students met 3 tired teachers to start their journey to Krakow and Berlin.  Travelling through the night we arrived tired but excited. Our first trip was a walking tour around Krakow, a beautiful medieval city, still dressed in its 'winter market'.  In the afternoon we met and were privileged to listen to the story of a holocaust survivor, a humbling experience. We then went to Oskar Schindler's famous factory.  After such a busy and thought-provoking day we were all glad to return to our hotel for dinner...

Year 11 students handout Christmas Hampers

Thursday 14th December 2017

This week saw the wrapping, packing and delivery of Christmas Hampers with Year 11 prefects. The National Citizenship Service offered students the chance to write a proposal for a social action project and the prefects themselves chose the Christmas Hamper delivery idea. The proposal was accepted and we were awarded some funds to help purchase the necessary items. The delivery itself was brilliant!
