Please help to support a local school in their bid for a new playground!

Wednesday 8th November 2017

Breage primary school are taking part in a competition to hopefully win a new playground for their pupils.  They are currently fourth and would love a concentrated push for votes this week, as voting ends at 11.59pm on Tuesday 14th November 2017. It only takes a minute to vote, and each email address you have can be used to vote once. Anyone aged over 18 who is a UK resident can vote. Being such a small school means it is going to be a real challenge for Breage to secure the most votes so every single vote will add up...

The Parkinson's group are mostly elderly and are at different stages of the condition. Several of our Post 16 Ambassadors, Gracie, Nick, Aaron, Casper and Phoebe were keen to help out. They went down to the cattle market in Helston during their lunchtime. Each of them performed a small musical piece and gave a short precis on their passion for music. The feedback that we...

Thursday 19th October 2017

Following the book collection in the foyer during the Summer term, the Helston Community College Interact students (a club run in association with Helston Rotary) sifted through the books and carefully boxed them up to be sent to Orphanages in Africa.  In total, they collected over 150 Fiction, Non-Fiction and Textbooks.  The books have now been sent to Africa via the Charity 'School Aid', and further collections are planned for the future. The group would like to thank all those students who donated old books to the collection. If any students wish to join this student-run, friendly club, all are...

Thursday 19th October 2017

Our Year 12 Construction students once again did themselves proud working on the raised beds at Landewednack. Last year they build the beds from scratch and returned again this year to make some more. They were a little smaller this year, designed for the Seagull reception class to use. Year 12 students from Helston Community College dismantled the old beds and put the new ones together using recycled timber as part of their sustainability unit. The class teacher from Landewednack, Helen Beirne made them a carrot cake using the carrots grown from seeds that the students planted last year. It...

Saturday 30th September 2017

On Tuesday 26th September Year 12 students attended the 'Learn to Live' event in Redruth Cinema. Students listened to a series of personal accounts and stories of people who have been involved in road traffic accidents. 'L2L' targets young people as they are statistically one of the most at risk groups when it comes to road traffic collisions.
